It’s true — you can’t whistle in Petrolia, Ontario. It’s common belief that this law is aiming to keep the noise levels down during the night, but the law itself prohibits it during the day as well. You can find the actual law in Article 3, 772.3.6: “Yelling, shouting, hooting, whistling or singing is prohibited at all times.” So, if your younger brother is driving you nuts whistling the tune to The Andy Griffith Show, you can tell him he’s breaking the law.
